The Italian company Bormioli Luigi was founded by engineer Luigi Bormioli in 1946 and initially specialized in producing glass for the perfume industry. In the early 1970s, the company's technical staff created a revolutionary technology that allowed for the industrial production of glasses and tumblers with a quality previously achievable only by hand. The re-thermal treatment technology for the rim achieves the same strength as a thickened edge but imparts a visible lightness to the products.
